The best thing to do for any cat that is healthy and not overweight is to free feed. That means keep the bowl full of food all day everyday. A growing kitten needs to eat more often than an adult cat. If the kitten/cat seems to be getting overweight, then take your cat to the vet with the label of the food you feed. They can calculate the precise amount of food your cat should eat in a day. They need the cats exact weight, and the label from the food you feed so they can figure out how many kilocalories the needs, and how many are available in the food.

A kitten is a rapidly growing creature, and you should feed it as often as it wants to eat. I could go on and provide you cite after cite, but we all know that all babies are only hungry when they need nourishment, and this is almost constant... ;) Offer the kitten food constantly... This means, allow access to dry food 24/7, and also offer wet food at least twice a day, if not more... Remember, while kittens eat all the time, they have small stomachs, so wet food can go bad before they eat it all, so only put it out in small amounts. I hope this helps and thanks for possibly saving a young life,

RE:
How often should I feed my kitten?
I found myself an owner of a small kitten. I think he is about 3 months old.
It's always crying.
How often do you feed a small kitten?

Feed him wet kitten food several (3-4) times a day
And leave some dry Kitten food out at all times.
You can also give it some KMR2 (it's special kitten milk that you can get at petco) or wiskas kitten milk (not cow milk).
Good luck!

You should always keep dry foods availble at ALL times and feed wet foods every 3-4 hours. Make sure that you feed it at the same times every day and leave it out for a limited time. A kitten's diet is 80% wet food and only 20% dry foods.

If it hasn't been weaned yet, every 4-6 hours with a dropper/bottle of kitten formula. If it has been weaned. then try twice a day. Always make sure there is plenty of fresh water on hand for the kitten. Chances are if it cries alot, it is because it is having seperation anxiety from it's mother. This is normal and will pass in time.

Kittens should be fed a good quality canned meat. He should have food as often as he is hungry. Kittens don't get fat from overeating, believe me. Three to four times day.
You can leave some dry food out now that he is young and don't neglect the meat. That is the natural diet for a cat. For the canned you don't need "kitten food". When mother cats wean their kittens they don't bring them special "kitten mice" to eat. They get the real thing. If you use the quality foods they are higher in protein and fat for all cats, whatever their age. Felidae, Natural Balance, Wellness, etc. At least one can a day of that.
For dry foods Natural Balance has a chicken and rice, a venison and pea. Their pieces are small enough for a kitten. The protein and fat is high enough for a kitten.
