No. It's safe. Unless he swallowed the entire thing (which he didn't) he's fine.
He may foam at the mouth, but only because it tastes so nasty. Cats don't know to get a drink to wash out nasty tastes.

Hate to scare you but you need to call your VET ASAP. They are not supposed to lick the stuff, it will probably make them deathly sick. I don't know that but why take chances?
Also, this forum is not the place to be asking questions like that.
You needed to call the vet and ask HIM that question first, if you haven't already done that. Next time, be a little more articulate with stuff like that. Flea control medicine is not something that you just put on your pet without careful consideration. Put it high on his neck, so he can't lick it. And also, cut his fur down to his skin where you put it so it will soak INTO his skin not spread throughout his fur. I know it was just a careless mistake and I hope your cat will be OK. Good luck.

In the future, before you do anything for your animals, READ the instructions and all the WARNING labels!!! - I don't think this will "kill" your cat - but to be on the safe side, give him a bath in that area - wipe him off - Good Luck sweetheart - I just love cats! By the way, if your cat doesn't go out - you don't need to deflea him..

You could call the place where you bought the advantage and ask what to do just to be sure. And I'm sooooo happy you're using Advantage. I used that cheap stuff (Hartz I think) and my both cats got very sick from it. The vet told me the other stuff should be against the law.

No it won't hurt them. They can eay the whole tube and then some and nothing will happen stop worrying. When they made the stuff they actually tested it by feeding as many tubes of it as they could until something happened. They stopped at like 50 and that's only because the animals got full. So no it won't hurt your pets.

don't worry...he'll be ok....cats lick their fur no matter where you put that advantage treatment. He probably licks where you treat him every time...you just didn't realize it...the reason they say to put the treatment on their necks, backbone and hind-end is because that's where the fleas are more likely to nest or run around....your cat will be ok....

I have two cats and unless I watch very close they will lick it off each other. No harm except the flea protection is gone.

Probably start foaming at the mouth, my moms cats would always decide to attack each other or play right after a treatment and end up with some in their mouths. Call your vet/emergency vet if you have any questions.

No matter where I put it, one of my cats manages to turn her head like all the way around and lick it obsessively for like 2 days. She has yet to get sick from it. As long as the meds are right for their weight I think its ok.
