We say "une portière". People sometimes say "porte de la voiture", but that's not the proper term. And most people in France know that word, it's extremely common.
I just check in a dictionary. It says that people commonly say "porte", now. But I'm not really sure that's true. Anyway, the proper term is "une portière".

porte de voiture = car door http://www.freetranslation.com/ remember, not all words in english translate exactly to what u want in another language. for exampl u mite want to say ' what did the fat man say to the skinny bird?' and if u translate it back to english again u may get something like 'that fat skinny bird say to man the'

"la portière" is for cars or vehicules.
