Best entertainment martial artist:
Tony Jaa. Anyone who says different is just wrong.
Best competitive martial artist?
This would have to go to an MMA fighter. Mirko Cro-Cop would have to be the most destructive. Wanderlei Silva might be pound for pound the best fighter on the planet. Matt Hughes is pretty damn good and dominant in the UFC though he's not what most people would envision as a "martial artist." He certainly doesn't throw a lot of kicks. He IS a badass though.

I would have to say the fastest ones are Jet Li and Jaa for speed and accuracy onstage......for USA I agree that Jeff Speakman at his prime maybe 8 years ago would be a contender here in States but as far as "real martial artrists" ....only the unknown less reknown masters from Asia that are not on TV or Movies are fastest..."really"!

I think Jet Li could be the fastest martial artist by now, followed by Jackie Chain, this reference I'm giving you it's not because of their movies we are watching its a real fact, these two people have ever fought and Jet Li emerged the winner, in terms of Dans Jet Li has more than Jackie Chain, you can either ask the Japanese community near you,can provide more details about this.

When did the fastest begin to equal the best? I can do my techniques much faster if I wish, all I have to do is sacrifice my form. But then I have fast crap and that is no good.I do not believe speed equals quality.
Also, the best martial artist in the world is most likely not even in the public eye.
He/she probably trains in some nowhere place and is not distracted by work, telephones, TV, traffic, bills...etc etc.
They most likely train circles around many American practitioners.

If you want to see the best, go to the Philadelphia Karate Club at 222 south 45th street in Philadelphia, PA. and watch their Kata Team. In contrast what other schools/styles are teaching is slapstick.
