The Baha'i is a religion which developed from the Babi movement in the 19th century. The Babis were a Persian Shi'ite group which followed the teachings of the Bab, but after he was executed Baha'ullah (1817-1892) took control of the group and most followed him. Thus, although it started out as a narrow Shi'ite sect, it eventually became a univeralist world religion, independent of Islam.

Baha'i stresses the validity of all religions and the unity of all of humanity - regardless of race, sex, religion or other traditional differences.

I am a Baha'i and have found it to be a wonderful experience. What I like about it best is that it not only satifies one's spiritual/faith based needs but also is very logical and addresses the needs of the world today.

My perspective on the Baha'i Faith is that there is one God and He has created humanity to grow and develop by learning more about Him over time. Since God is unknowable ("God in His Essence and in His own Self hath ever been unseen, inaccessible, and unknowable."), He sent Messengers (Moses, Christ, Muhammad, etc.) to us to educate humanity about Him. In this day Baha'u'llah, the latest of these messengers and the Founder of the Faith, says that humanity is moving from adolescence into adulthood and now is the time to establish the "Kingdom of God" on earth - uniting all of humanity.

There is so much more but looking at the website below is probably better at providing that information.

Good luck...
