Take the puppy to the vet! It's especially not good if the fleas are getting in the ears. Dogs need to go to the vet quite regularly for check ups and routine shots in the first year of puppyhood anyway, so what are you waiting for?

If your sister purchased the puppy, she should also have the cash to purchase veterinarian services. If she doesn't have the money to do that, she should not have purchased the puppy. Sorry!

Dog owners have a responsibility. You can't be 'scared' to handle a flea problem. Do, please help your sister (tell her to go to the vet immediately; lend her the money to do so). I hope, in the future, she doesn't make it a habit to get 'scared' and shove responsibility for the dog on others.

First I would take her to the vet for a puppy check to make sure everything is ok with her besides her flea problem She is 8 weeks old so she is old enough for frontline (7 weeks) and Advantix(8 weeks). Those products work great. But if you did bathe her (which is fine) you just have to wait 2 days before/after you bathe that way her skin has time to produce the natural oils that distribute the product on her body. There is also a product called Capstar which kills all the adult fleas that are on her body at that present time. The best way to treat is with capstar along with a topical. Frontline/Advantix also kill flea larvae and eggs. But your sister will have to treat her house and yard, because the some of the flea eggs have probably fallen off of her. I would recommend using a professional service for the safety of the pet. Since she has fleas it is also possible that she has tapeworms which is a digested flea egg. 1 flea that you see represents ONLY 5% of the population that she has.

I have breed my dog she had two litters if six. We talked to the vet because the mother got some fleas and they ended up getting on the puppied they were only a few weeks old. He said to get some kind of flea spray (Adams is the best) spray it on a cotton ball and rub it on the puppies. It is best to rub it down the back a lot of fleas stay there. But you could put it close to the puppies ears since that's where their at, but DO NOT put it in her ears. Most sprays say for six weeks and older but this is the best vet we have ever had he has helped with all our pets. We used the flea spray on our pets and they are fine.

Give the puppy a bath with gentle puppy shampoo, then blow dry her (fleas hate blow dryers), then brush the dead fleas out. Fleas can cause puppies to be anemic, which can be deadly, so don't waste a lot of time.

You can find some shampoos or medicine to use if the puppy is older then 6 weeks...Just look at all the stuff at a pet smart place...Or ask them if they can find u one for a puppy that is 8 weeks old...Good luck...Go to a store that only sells pet supplies. You'll have better luck there. If u can't find anything then your only other thing u can do is take it to the vet.

Oh, how sad.
Well, I am pretty sure you can use Frontline on her. I had the same problem with my puppy. She was 7 weeks old when we got her and she was infested with them. So, we tried bathing her and then we took her to the vet and bought Frontline try that, but if she is to young use K-9 Advantic. Or however you spell it. Congrats on the pup, but try that out an see.
Good Luck
