my trick was to always make sure they went to sleep on a full stomach. as adults im sure we all have noticed that it is much easier to take naps after eating. how many times were you at the buffett and were so full that you just wanted to take a blanket and fall asleep right where you sat.

it has worked for me and i have 3 kids. so just make sure that (s)he is fed and dry.

try playing with him for a long time because they fall asleep after being chased around and stuff like that.

AHA, you have a small glimpse into parenthood. Ask the parents what works for them.

Suggestions: Sing, swing or drive, but I guess the drive thing is probably not an option if you are babysitting. Low, smooth music can work sometimes.

Make sure they are fed, but not overfed. Make sure the diaper is clean and dry. Make sure they are clothed an covered appropriately for the temperature of the room. Put him/her in the crib, once they are calm, read to them. Read another book. Read another book. Read another book. Stay calm. Children are amazingly perceptive. If you get frustrated, they get upset. Learn to be calm even when you are feeling frustrated. Don't ever touch a child in anger to strike, shake or anything. Come up with a little game where they touch your finger, then they close their eyes for the count of five, then they can open, you have moved you finger, they touch it again, then they close their eyes for 10 seconds. Repetitive and boring. A child of this age may be able to participate in this.

Make sure the light is not too bright. A book light would be a good investment.

There is no magic for this, every child is different. Try all you have in your imagination, then remember it for next time but I warn you, it may not work the next time.

Feed the child, clean diaper, then place child in crib, leave a radio on, darken the room. If they fuss, stay there, place your hand on their chest and rub slowly. Talk quietly...
Sit there if necessary.
Be sure to settle down before nap time...have a super slow and quiet time beforehand...so the child can unwind.
If all fails...let the child fall asleep on its own, where ever th child happens to be. That may be the couch, the carpet...but the child will fall asleep if left alone just fine.

My daughter does the comparable component as your toddler and that i do what you do. I positioned her in mattress supply her a kiss and say good night. She rolls onto her tummy and stands on the area of her cot yet she finally ends up going to sleep. some nights she will have the capacity to cry, some nights she will have the capacity to easily play for slightly whilst others she is going at recent to sleep. So i think of your recommendations-set to it fairly is certainly finished :)

Put him in his carrier and put him on the dryer. The motion and sound will put him to sleep. You should stick around though to make sure he is OK up there.

lay him down in your arms and stroke his head while you speak lightly to him. The soothingness of your voice will help to comfort him and to feel your hand will comfort him in knowing that you are there
