I have three dogs: 15yr old greyhound former racer; 7yr old dachshund terrier mix; and a Lhasa Apso who was guessed at being about 10 when I adopted him. I think he's probably in the 15 age bracket by his behavior.
There is a quiz on this site comparing dog/human life spans. According to that my greyhound is about 100 in human terms.

I've had a lot of dogs but I remember one being old. Mousy, my grammas dog, was the meanest Blonde chihuahua in the world. She hated everyone. She walked around miserable all the time. She was like a crotchety old lady. But she liked me for some reason and would bite my mom when she came to pick me up. She was nearly 13 when she fell in the pool and died. My mom didn't tell me the real cause of death for years and when she did I was crushed. Now i teach all my dogs to swim to the steps!!! Thanks Mousy! See you at the Rainbow Bridge!

I always have mutts, they are less suseptible to inbred diseases. My lab/german shepherd lived to be 15, so did our lab/who-knows-what. 15 is a good age for large dogs. I never get small dogs, we have kids and small dogs just aren't as good with kids. Right now we have a golden retriever/lab mix and a golden retriever/collie mix and neither have any medical problems, though Spirit does have a problem with eating remote controls.

I had a sheltie (my dad bought her when I was 2yrs old) and she lived to be 12yrs old, so I would have been 14. She was an amazing dog, she would never hurt a fly! My dad said that we would never find another dog like her, because she was perfect. My current dog (a sheltie) is such a goof!

We did have a cat that lived to be 22 years old.

I have a Jack Russel and a Chow MIX. The mix is important because she's not tempermental like a purebred Chow. :P Both are around 8-10 or so.
