Personally (and please, dont attack me for my opinion) I think it's rather silly.

I think its stupid too but I dont really know that much about it. I think what Tom made Katie do when she was in labor was wrong. Any religion where you can't show any emotion or talk when your in labor is a piece of crap in my book

I'm a little puzzled as to why this is in botany. "Scientology" was created by a science *fiction* writer. But since I'm here...

I think it's a nasty cult. Now, you hear a lot about celebrities who say Scientology changed their lives and got them off drugs or whatever they were whining about (the rest of us have to go through years of therapy or rehab or whatever, but their "religion" does it all for them! Wheee!)

But have you ever heard about the Scientology drones, the poor shmucks who live in the compounds and do all the work? I read an article about the ordinary Scientology people, the kids who grow up in the "church" while their parents do who-knows-what. They don't educate them, they're broke, they aren't taken care of properly, they're married off very young, and they do a lot of work for little pay or glory. They spend years trying to get to the upper levels, while celebrities mysteriously move up the ladder and become grand Scientology wizards in no time. And why does it cost so much money to join and stay in the group? Because it's a cult! A nasty cult masquerading as a helpful, non-religious group just there to make your life better! It's a lie, and don't believe it!

And who would want to be in the group responsible for Tom Cruise's transformation? Yuck! He's a freak and totally annoying. He should have stuck with whatever he was doing before. At least he wasn't trying to play Jedi mind tricks on interviewers and screaming at people for taking anti-depressants. If he tries to take my anti-depressants away, I'll smack him upside his crazy head. Hard. The man is the best anti-Scientology testimonial possible.

L. Ron Hubbard was a second-rate science fiction writer, but still desiring of fame, acclaim, and a strange wish to dress in pseudo-nautical uniforms. So, he wrote a self-help book called "Dianetics." It attracted a fringe following, and Hubbard followed with revelations to start the Scientology movement.

In later years, Hubbard became afraid of the whack-jobs that had come to run the Scientology cult. He therefore added ridiculous elements to his revelations (e.g. 75 million years ago, people were brought to earth in DC-8 airplanes, stacked around volcanoes, and blown up), in hopes that his followers would come to their senses and realize the whole shebang was silly. But he miscalculated. Fearing his followers, he spent the last years of his life as a virtual hermit -- likely that he'd received threats from his followers that if he went any further in making Scientology ridiculous, they'd kill him. The circumstances surrounding his death are mysterious. Look him up on Wikipedia.

Not sure what it is exactly either. But I just have say this, the Bible shouldn't just be about the charcters in it, Jesus, Mary, the Apostles and so on. Jesus was a representation of a higher power. The prophets had 'visions' of a much bigger entity. The BIble is just ancient interpritation of visions and epiphanys of a greater being. Don't get caught up in every word and every story as law. The real 'star' of the Bible is the one charactor you never see. God

It's for wankers. And stupid wankers, at that! Thank f*ck they cannot open "churches" here in the UK. My American friends - why do you tolerate these scum? Are you scared of their legal eagles?

BTW, to the guy above - I have an IQ of 148. 138 isn't something to boast about.

I don't know much about scientology, but from the reputation it seems to have, I think it's rather silly as well.
