Bound's hubby here:

CVA has been around for a while, and they have a good reputation. The package you listed is very complete and I feel a very good price. Plus, the rifle you selected has adjustable sights ... you can adjust where the rifle hits. I feel you you would not be wasting your money with this selection ... just practice with it once you get it!

Good luck!

Ive used many muzzle loaders and this is a simple ignition system and truth is that different brands just dosent make the difference . some are more comfortable and weight more or less and some high better looking stocks and barrels and some kick a Little less because of depressors but truth is its the guy behind the muzzle loader is the key . most muzzle loaders shoot so much a like in distance that it just dosent matter. odds are your not going to shoot over 100 yards anyway and though these makers of certain brands boast of 250 and 300 yards loool i just laugh at this because trial and error proves otherwise . my advice is buy the brand that pleases your eyes and feels best against your shoulder and get to know this weapon well . shoot it often and know where that bullet is going to hit and stay with same amount of powder and same type of bullet all the time and clean as much between shots as you can stand and you ll find that the brand your shooting is the best for you and when the guys say i shoot the better brand show em the buck in back of your pickup and say he didn't know the difference when i pulled the trigger.

CVA makes a good muzzleloader. The 209 primer provides a good ignition that is superior to the #11 caps found on traditional side lock muzzleloaders. Since this rifle comes in both .45 and .50 calibers, I'd recommend the .50 caliber over the .45. The rifle in question is capable of withstanding a charge of 150 grains of Pyrodex but you may not be. 150 grains of Pyrodex behind a .50 caliber slug will have a considerable kick. I think this rifle in .50 caliber will make a fine deer rifle and you should have a lot of fun with it.
