Hey people, I downloaded a video file, but it's mkv, does DivX work for it, or do I need a different program to work it, if so which?

Divx won't worke with this kind of file. You need to download and install CCCP playback pack, a special codec designed for this type of video. Donload it from here:
http://downloads.matroska.org/packs/
Here is how to install it on windows:
http://www.matroska.org/technical/guides/playback/windows/index.html
It also works with Linux and MAC.
