Textured Hair

Why is textured hair so difficult to manage? Unlike straight hair (which is round and smooth), textured hair is ribbon-like – meaning that it is wider and flatter than straight hair. The curlier it is, the flatter it is. Flatness creates more surface area which makes it more likely to lose moisture on dry days and attract unwanted moisture on humid days. As a result, the outer layer of textured hair (the cuticle) tends to be rough and opened. This makes textured hair less shiny and healthy. Ultimately, textured hair can appear dry and frizzy, resulting in split ends and styles that are difficult to control.

Get this Look

To get this smooth, straight look, first wash your hair with OptiMoist and condition with the conditioner that's right for you. Then, apply LiquidGlass, a non-greasy gel that eliminates frizz and smoothes the hair shaft. This allows you to blow-dry your hair straight with much less effort.

Towel dry your hair.
Apply LiquidGlass, working through your hair.
Blow dry with a round or paddle brush to transform curly, coarse or dry hair to soft, silky straight and shiny hair.
LiquidGlass can also be used on wet or dry hair to smooth frizz and tame unruly texture.

Q: How do I control my frizzy hair?

A: The slightest variation in humidity, wind, or even body chemistry can have an impact on your ability to control your hair. We do what we can to tame it: we blow it straight; we apply burning hot irons in an effort to smooth it; we spray cans of hair spray on it to keep it under control. The trouble is, what we are doing is actually damaging the cuticle of each strand of hair, increasing the stress that creates the lack of shine and the splitting of ends that drove us nuts in the first place!

I created LiquidGlass, a non-greasy gel that eliminates frizz and smoothes the hair shaft. This allows you to blow-dry your hair straight with much less effort. Apply to towel-dried hair and blow dry with a round or paddle brush to transform curly, coarse or dry hair to soft, silky straight and shiny hair. LiquidGlass can also be used on wet or dry hair to smooth frizz and tame unruly texture.

It all depends on the type of hair you have.

A good heat protectant helps before blow drying. Garnier Fructise makes this smoothing milk that is awesome. Just rub in the hair about mid way through drying.

John Freida also makes a shine spray that really works well.

Hold your hairdryer in the direction your hair lays.
For example. I have a straight bob. I dry my hair from the top so the hairdryer is blowing down.
I also use Bedhead products.
I have curly hair but wear it dead straight all the time. It keeps it shiny and not frizzy.

Matrix present day shampoo & conditioner works wonders. Rinse with chilly water to seal the cuticle while rinsing out the conditioner. Paul Mitchel Glass Drops is quite mind-blowing on the hair, utilized formerly blow drying. the two products comprise silicon, it incredibly is used to close the cuticle of the hair. The cuticle is what determines if the hair is vibrant or no longer. closed cuticle = vibrant, open cuticle = dry brittle finding. sturdy success :-)

This may sound nasty! Try beating an egg and applying it to your hair for 10 minutes.. Then shampoo and condition. Or you can always try a hot oil treatment made by VO5.
