My girlfriend cat keeps climbing the neighbours Conifer Tree, and recently has been scabby.

It's quite possible. Conifer trees are full of sap....not to mention the needles and bark aren't exactly "soft and fuzzy", lol. I've reached into conifers before and it irritated MY skin.

You should take the cat to the vet to have the scabs checked out. She could be having an allergic reaction to something from the tree....if it requires treatment, the vet should be able to prescribe a topical (or just apply something in the office). Even if it's not an allergic reaction, you don't want to leave sores unattended.

Good luck!

I hope so. I am not a fan of conifers, and do not like cats.

no conifer trees can't give cats skin problems

I find that when I cut mine, I have to protect my arms, or they get really scratched, as the things have sharp, scratchy edges all along the branches. So I expect this is the problem with your cat.

You may have problems stopping a cat from doing exactly as they please, though.

If the cat is allergic to pines yes it may.
