Your question concerns me. Raising adopted children is no different than raising biological children, and yes, both require sacrifices. Whether raising children is worth it, only you can answer that. Personally it has been the very best, more rewarding, most fun part of my life. We adopted 2 children at birth and the fact of their adoption is a very very minor part of our family life. Now raising children when you get them at older ages and/or from other countries and/or with problems is a bit of a different story. In that situation yes you do have to honestly weigh your commitment level. But that is more of a "can I raise a child with special needs" question, not a "are adopted kids worth the sacrifice" - I hope you see the distinction. Good luck to you!

The sacrifice of what?
Please explain.
Ok, I will say this. No one should have a child unless you are committed to loving and supporting that child 100%, all of their lives. Now you must feel twice as strong as that if you adopt a child, because you can NEVER throw the adoption in their face no matter how mad or how hard it is. Adoptees already have feelings of abandonement, so they really need support. It's a matter of not knowing where they come from. And it just may take some longer than others for those feelings to surface, but they will.

We have permanant custody of my husband's 2 nephews. The courts won't let us adopt them because they want the parents to still be in the children's lives. We still have the say over what happens and such, except for the court appointed visits they have with their mom. That is a real pain, because she tells them that they will get to live with her again soon and that we are not the boss of them.
My sister has adopted 3 girls and they never see their birth parents. She is very happy. They have lived with her for 6 years now.
As far as being worth the sacrifice: there are days when you think to yourself "why am I doing this, these are not my kids" but then you think about the situation they came from and where else they could be and you know that you wouldn't change anything even if you could.
We have had custody of them for almost 4 years now. And prior to that we had them for 9 months. In between that time they lived with their mom for 13 months.

I am an adopted child. My parents raised me with love. I don't even remember them telling me that I was adopted because they first told me when I was real small. I always knew and it was no big deal.
I am curious, what sacrifice? You have to sacrifice with any child, even your own. So what are you talking about?

IF YOU ARE ASKING IF THE SACRIFICE IS WORTH IT AND ARE THINKING ABOUT ADOPTING, DON'T. WHEN SOMEONE HAS THESE KIND OF DOUBTS THEY HAVE NO BUSINESS EVEN GOING IN THAT DIRECTION.
I AM ADOPTED.
PLEASE, DON'T EVEN ADOPT A PET
