the media. they are the ones who blew this out of proportion and misrepresented his speech. i remember when i first heard of this, the news mentioned that the pope said "so and so.....". then the next day, when it started to garner some reaction around the world the media said that the pope Quoted "so and so.....". then after it all got blown out of proportion, yesterday they started reporting that the pope quoted from 14th century byzantine emporer and that it was only a small line from his speech about religion and tolerancy and how they weren't his feelings or beliefs of islam, and all that (you get the idea). i mean, shouldn't the media take responsibility? they are so one sided. i guess they wanted to have something to talk about in the news. as if we don't have enough issues in the world to talk about.

I agree with you totally! Shame on them!
The media is always throwing more wood into the fire (just watch FoxNews for a few minutes).
Actually, they don't care about anything. They don't care about 9/11, they don't care about Darfour, Iraq ... etc.
It's all a rating game to them, and when Muslims begin to react, unfortunately sometimes in a violent way, it's more news to dish out for them. Ratings go up and more $$$ from the ads...
I think WW III will be physically ignited by the media, in both the West and the Arab world!

The Pope's speech certainly quotes Michael Palaeologus - and it is this quotation which has attracted all the criticism. Perhaps Pope Benedict should not be criticised merely for quoting a famous Islamophobe.
More interestingly the Pope directly criticises Ibn Hazn for his characterisation of Allah as a transcendent and antinomian Godhead.
So people have attacked the Pope for saying something about Islam which he did not say (only quoted) but they have ignored his actual criticism of Islam (or at least of a very famous and highly respected Imam).
But then this is what the Pope was (mainly) talking about: when people talk about religion they use their stomachs instead of their heads.

that's perplexing to have self belief that the POPE is so illetrate and stupid. we are able to forgive commonpeople who're sufferer of Zionist propagenda approximately Islam and Muslims. each act of terrorism interior the worldwide has a Zionist stamp on it if yu yet have a watch. yet once you opt for for to be naive that's as much as you. the present POPE rat..... had a Jewish mom and that perhaps explains each element! in this regard he's like Clinton who as quickly as mentioned that he might placed on Israeli unifrom and combat for Israel. If pope can no longer see Bush brutalities in Iraq, Afgansitan, Palestine and Chechnya etc. then he's as blind as every physique may well be whoes imaginative and prescient, listening to and thinking is snatched with the aid of All robust God.

The media abuses their responsibility and freedom. They have the power to corrupt, or to heal and educate. They are biased and often seek the low road.
i agree the media has a great deal of responsibility, and little accounatability - but it goes with a free society that does not acknowledge the responsibillity of their freedom, and puts themselves and their agendas first.
Did not the Pope just tell the truth? Our sensibilities are in the wrong place
Thanks

I agree with you completely. And, I think that the Muslim community should apologise for always blowing things out of proportion, and taking offence to everything. They make comments and cartoons FAR worse than anything 'Christian countries/people' have!!!

Rest assured the Pope is conservative and he does share those beliefs of Islam. He just doesnt have the guts to do it more directly right now. But the media is just doing what they do, stirring the pot and spinning off it.

The leader of one of the world's great religions must be held to a higher standard. What does it say about Christianity when one of the great leaders disrespects others?
Instead of quoting a Christian from the Dark Ages, he should have denounced the atrocities of the Crusaders themselves as an example of the evil religions can promote when misguided by their leaders.

The Pope is held personally responsible for his intentionally insulting untrue remarks. The media is part of the current ar against Islam.
