The reason is because Islam is not a peaceful religion to begin with and they know it. Even the more moderate Muslims arent going to step out on a limb and renounce terrorism; even if that is his own personal belief. Otherwise he himself becomes a target for siding with the west.
The truth is most Muslims sympathize with Hamas, Hezb., and Al-Queda because deep down they hate the west as much as them but arent willing to pick up a gun or bomb and do something about it.

In many parts of the world Osama is adored as a Hero. Posters of him can be found adorning walls. The West *conquered* the world. Not one country or people has not been under the thumb of a European country. Not ONE. All of the Middle East rulers, even those descended from Mohammed, owe their rule to the grace of the West.
The West set the rest of the world free, and kept in tact most of its trade infrastructure (which largely amounts to pillaging). Middle Eastern countries nationalized their oil fields, essentially stealing them from foreign governments (who, to be fair, conquered built and developed them), much like Cuba nationalized the sugar crop. If Cuba had oil, they'd never have gone Communist.
This disparity in the resource producing countries and the resource consuming countries produces a degree of animosity. Take your average American who makes 25k a year - and get their opinion on the guy swerving around them in a BMW. Multiply that many times over to get a concept of the disparity the poor of the world see. (Though, your average Kuwaiti probably laughs and says "BMW? Those are good bumper cars for kids" but they're pro-west)
The terrorists are zinging the big kid on the block. No one expects the terrorists to win, and to an extent the terrorists are an expression of the feelings of a community. Just like an individual has many different thoughts and acts on few, a community has many different individuals who act on different thoughts. Beating up on the bully is one such expression.
And, to be fair, if Islam calls for a world united under a theocracy, the success of terrorists would mean everyone else would eventually be coerced into converting. And if we're all the same, we would come to see the light of Islam.
Personally, I find it sickeningly ironic that the religions that stand up for the poor have all originated from obscenely rich trade routes. Phoenicia/Canaan/Judea/Palestine was an absurdly rich trade route. Mecca was the richest trading city on the Arabian peninsula. Why doesn't God ever speak to the poor in some backwater town?

They do talk against Al-Qaida but it is either not reported in the media or if it is reported, people don't pay attention to it. The negative things grab attention more readily.
And they ARE doing a lot to check the guys who are trying to spoil their image. You would be surprised if you knew the number of Pakistani soldiers who have lost their lives fighting Al-Qaida. And this is only one country. And the other thing I want to tell you is that the primary target of Al-Qaida was MUSLIM Governments, not USA. What I have read in magazines and newspapers is that they attacked United States because it supports muslim governments that Al-Qaida wants removed from power.
And apparently the US government itself played a pivotal role in creating these extremist groups. During the 1980s, it was US government which pumped billions of dollars into creating these militant groups. They were given training, weapons and even missions. The purpose was to fight the war against Soviets in Afghanistan. The long term effects of this policy have been devastating.
Now all the things have somehow been blamed on muslims. Perhaps it would be better if people payed attention to the long term effects of their policies also.

Nothing so big happened that you need to hear outcries from Muslims. It's not important to cry outloud in order to make you hear and make you believe they are protesting. I don't see it's any important.
Muslims are turning down all terrorist activities, whether from non-Muslim or Muslim terrorism. As other people above said, you don't actually see what actually happening.

The honest answer to that very question is that they are sitting there peacefully sending their money to finance the violent ones.
This makes them just as violent and that is why there is no public outcry by them on this issue.

I don't know why you don't see it. Don't blame on us blame on American medias.
Muslims follow a religion of peace, mercy, and forgiveness, and the majority have nothing to do with the extremely grave events which have come to be associated with their faith. Muslims are those who submit themselves to the will of Allah (God).
