Hmm, never had a problem with either of them making me sick. Guess it would depend on the cookie dough really. If it was prepackaged cookie dough (which is what is used in the ice cream) as compared to homemade from scratch, there could be a big difference in how it may make you feel. Anyway, neither are really good for you though.

There is like no difference between them. If you were making meat cookies and the meat was uncooked and you ate the raw dough yea you would get sick. Nothing in cookie dough ( eggs, flour, sugar, baking powder, cocoa) can make you sick when it is not cooked. I think it has to do with eating too much

I take it you are talking about Ben & Jerrie's ? This is the best brand we have here in the states. It is not supposed to make you sick, isn't it.

I think the reason is that regular cookie dough is too sweet and filling, while the icecream is more refreshing. In the end it's still more icecream then cookie dough, isn't it ?

While raw eggs have the potential to make you VERY sick, I've been eating raw cookie dough for over 50 years and have never gotten sick from it.

My guess is that your mom told you that it would make you sick because she was trying to make cookies, not stuff cookie dough into kids. And their dirty little fingers in the bowl could make everyone sick!

It's the kind of things moms do. Not because we love lying to our kids, but because they don't accept the truth, and the story works!

("But mooom, I like it raw! Please, please please!" And in goes the hand! Next time you turn around, your best mixing bowl is broken on the floor, and the cookies that are already in the oven burn while you're cleaning it up.)

Kids! Gotta love 'em.

Pasteurization makes the difference.

Even the prepackaged Pillsbury cookie dough is pasteurized. When we make it at home... it isn't... hence the resulting sickness.

It's a combonation of portion control and proper storage, actually..it has nothing that actually pretains to the ingredients..and to that wise guy up there that said it has raw eggs in it..you are far from right..people training for physical activities eat raw eggs as a part of their diet! it's actually better to eat raw eggs!
