Take him back into the vet on Monday, have them do a full urinalysis, and bloodwork. If they don't have a lab on site, they most likely have an arrangement with Idexx or Antech to send the blood to a professional lab. (if you're in the USA anyways) Thyroid disease causes urine in the blood on rare occasion, urinary tract infections, uroliths (bladder stones, crystals in the urine), bladder infections, kidney infections, among several other things can cause blood in urine. It might not even be blood. There are several chemicals in the body that are red and can cause a red-orange tinge to urine. A full urinalysis and bloodwork are key to diagnosing these problems before they become life threatening. A tumor could also cause blood in urine. There are so many things that can cause this that you need a real diagnosis. Some vets get cocky and just prescribe antibiotics without doing any real workup. It can kill a pet to let it go on, as there may be internal bleeding and/or a systemic infection starting.

I also have a terrier. Please get your dog to a vet right away. They could have kidney stones which can be taken care of or an infection of the urinary tract. My dog is a West Highland Terrier but have had a male Bichon who bled when urinating due to kidney stones. They also have special dog food at the vets by Hills so your dog will not get sick again. The vet should do a complete blood work up on your dog right away.

Take him to the emergency vet! There may be a blockage or he has burst a small blood vessel while trying to urinate. Either way this is not something to mess with. Good luck to the little guy!

I'd take him to emergency ASAP. Don't take the chance of waiting.
