Is it possible to know that you are self-realized (and not just delusional)?

I've often wondered that-am I deeply spiritual and pursuing enlightenment to fulfill God's purpose or am I a sandwich short of a picnic? I have to say though that I've came through intense hardships and I have a deep sense that I really am involved in some spiritual journey of personal enlightenment. I'm aware how much I've changed and grown as a person as a result of my experiences and I would need to describe that growth in terms of being spiritual.
