The seat is a tan leather bucket seat with the slit in the lower side portion of the seat. The cut is not in a portion of the seat that receives lots of wear and tear but I would like the repair to blend in with the seat.

Check with an auto upholstery shop to see what they recommend. Any do it yourself repair will look like a do it yourself repair!!!

You're not going to be able to leather patch a leather seat. Can't quite picture where you're describing the cut, but if it's not that visible and the area isn't stretched much, then use those colored duct tape. They come in black, silver, red, yellow... perhaps yellow could work if it's not visible (too visible).
