I had a brace for 2 yrs and HATED IT!!!
It made me unable to talk properly, and food was forever getting stuck in it so i started eating foods like soup that wouldnt - and in the end I asked for it to be removed
I never regreted my choice - my teeth are fine and there is no visable effect that I didnt wear one or that I actually needed one in the first place.
Speak to your dentist - they can advise if you really need one or it is advised you wear one - believe me - there is a difference

I wore braces for several years.
I have to wear a permanent retainer behind the front teeth on the top and bottom.
I've had my braces off for 18 years, and those teeth are straight.
But the other teeth aren't that straight. And the molars in the back where the rubber bands were attached are all problematic: two have inlays and one has had a root canal.
Aesthetically my teeth weren't bad -- a gap in between my two front teeth. I don't remember if I had other structural problems (like not enough space for molars to grow in or something).
But I probably wouldn't do it again -- it might have been a waste of my parents' money.

I wore braces for 2 yrs. from age 13 to 15. I ended up with ALL 32 teeth in by the time I was 13 so my mouth was way overcrowded. I had to have 4 teeth pulled in order to make room so that my other teeth could move into place. My parents put themselves into debt so that I could get braces and I am still (after 25 yrs.) very grateful. My teeth still look good!

I had braces from the age of 11 til I was 18. I hated having them, but I knew it would be worth it. I got them off in time for graduation, and I love my teeth now. It was a great investment that my parents made, and I'm really grateful now. I get so many compliments on them, I just can't imagine not having had braces.
The hardest part for me was actually after I got them off. You are supposed to wear retainers for a few years to keep your teeth straight, and I broke mine twice- once on purpose.
I have heard from different sources that even if you are real good about keeping your retainers in and getting checkups and all that, even still, 10-15 years from when I was 18, I'll probably need to get another retainer. Teeth are always moving, and not many people realize that. Regardless, I'm proud of my teeth. :D
Hope this was helpful!

My parents wasted money on braces to straighten just my front teeth when I was little and now that my molars all grew in screwey, all my bottom teeth are beginning to push forward again anyway...
Dentist's suck!

I wore mine for 5 years. They are straight and it was so worth the wait. My front tooth overlapped the other a little and made me very self conscious, so I got it fixed.
