Normally bout 6 to 8 weeks, depends if its been opened, taste it and if it taste's OK then eat it, i normally do....
I used to work in a school kitchen and i done loads of course's about food, the only reason they put used by dates is for precaution when sometimes the food will last weeks longer.
So really its down to you if you think it is safe to eat....
Eat it ....
I would.....

I see that I am just coming to the end of a large jar of Branston with the date Nov 2003 on the lid. Whether that is a "best before" or the date of production, I do not know, but I really do not think it is important if the contents taste ok and have not turned an unpleasant colour.
Incidentally, I do not keep it in the fridge but in the kitchen cupboard, as pickled products do have an extremely long life. Maybe pickled products do start to deteriorate when the jar is opened, but taste, smell and appearance are all the guides one needs, I believe.
Enjoy!

you CAN keep it for years. Its true. My mum keeps it for decades, but lets not go there..........The 6/8 week thing is NONSENCE for pickled stuff, it does last years. Thats the WHOLE POINT.
Because its pickle it has vinegar in it which is a natural preservative. The whole reason people pickled things in the first place was to preserve them for long periods of time, before fridges were ever invented.

Oh yes you can it is pickled it's made to last until the expiration date and then some. How do you think our ancestors kept food without refrigeration? They pickled, canned, salted, preserved, dried, even froze it in deep rivers and lakes. Go ahead and eat it.

You can keep it in for as long as you have a refrigerator. Whether it remains edible..now that's another question....!

Your taste buds will tell you when it's off. You should be safe for months yet.
