Unlike humans dogs and cats love you unconditionally and are not judgmental. That is of course if you treat them right. They are great company for some people. Have you ever watched a dog at someones house when they return home?Their welcome is a lot more sometimes then you'd get from the rest of your family and they are like that all the time.

There are different levels of attachment to pets. I have a cat, and she's cool and all, but she's an ANIMAL. She lives outside, and her purpose is to catch rodents. My purpose is to feed her.

Sorry fruitcakes, your pets do not "love" you - you're their meal ticket. Stop feeding your mutt and see how much it "loves" you.

There are some people who have an extreme attachment to their pets, and talk about them as if they are equals, which is LOONY. I see this with many mental health patients. The reason they love their pets so much is that they are such miserable human beings in the first place that no human wants a relationship with them. Most people who just LOOOOOVE their pets are pretty much a ssholes to other people. Their animals are just too stupid to know what rotten people they are.

Love, Jack

For some people it's the appeal of the animal and some people need to feel like they will always have something... no matter what your pets won't get mad at you or go tell someone what you said behind there back... so pets are needed to say stuff that you can't say to anyone else.

Anything that has a less scary face than your avatar's. :)
Ahem, Actually in my case (which is mostly with dogs), is just the real cuteness. Plus when i start working, I'd get one just for a cute & loyal companion.
