my dog had a scab on his ear and it woudnt heal. hes been to the vet twice and theyve given us cream and pills and it still wont clear up. they scraped off the scab hoping it would heal and its just been gettin worse. almost half of his ear is scabby and his hair is flaking off with his skin. whats is wrong!?? the vet cant even figure it out. and theyve ruled out mange and mites. HELP

First off, I'm sorry for your frustration. You are doing everything that you can to be a responsible pet owner. It sounds like this is a job for a dermatologist. Ask the vet if they can recommend any dermatologists to you. If you feel that the vet is not getting the job done, then go to another vet. Call your local animal hospital and ask them if there are any canine dermatologists in the area that they can recommend.

Take a specialist...sometimes you have to go to three and four diffrent vets for them to know. I don't know why people think that Yahoo! Answers has ALL the answers. But, you really need you take your dog back again and again and maybe you bug them enough for them to do something to help you. Good luck!

You might be washing it to hard or too much. So lay off and only wash it like twice a month unless it really dirty.I would also try a different vet just to see if he/she knows what it might be.
