I'm sure he's sorry that Muslims are over-reacting and taking parts of his speech out of context without reading the whole thing, or perhaps he's sorry that he was trying to demonstrate how violence and God's will are incompatible and a 72 year old nun got shot in the back of the head 3 times by a radical Muslim as a direct result, but I don't think he's sorry for quoting historical fact.

Thanks alot, liberal media!

NO....he should NOT have said he was sorry...all he did was read a section from a book, what was wrong with that?
I think these Muslims should stop going over the top every time some one says something about there religion.
Is it not the Muslims who are rioting and burning and killing? All the pope did was read a few words.
It was the same with the drawing saga.....You Muslims out there need to stop being such drama queens and realise that people will slag all religions...it's the way of life....don't make it worse fro every one else.

It is not Buddhists, Seiks, Hindus or Christians who go maiming and murdering hundreds and thousands of innocent people in the name of their religion. There is something seriously wrong with Islam, and it is up to Muslims to start facing up to the fact.

In the Koran, Muhammad advocates murder, saying it is OK to kill "unbelievers", and Muslims who denounce their faith. He also states that what he says is the final and definitive "Word of God", making it hard for Islam to evolve beyond its ancient origins, and fit into the modern world. As the founder of Islam, Muhammad is responsible for all the evil done in the name of that religion.

Of course the same thing can be said of Christ and Christianity, but thankfully the Christians have evolved and moved on from the "Holy Wars", and the inquisition - people are not burned alive any more to "save their soul". But right now in the 21st Century thousands were burned alive by the Muslims in the "9/11" atrocity, and their only crime was to be in the "twin towers" on the wrong day.

The Muslim world needs to drop all this self-righteous indignation, and get down to some very serious self examination, and, like everyone on this beautiful planet, try to listen to the still small quiet voice speaking to them in each of their hearts at this very minute, calling them to love life and peace, and all in this whole beautiful creation.

So No, the Pope should not apologise. He should be congratulated for having the courage to speak the truth. The people who should apologise are those who have organised all of the terrorist atrocities, in the name of Islam, since "9/11" and even before then. They offend against the principles of all religion, even their own, and against every principle of humanity itself.

No i don't think he should have to say sorry. The material he was reading out was old and renowned, and in fact the reaction seems to reinforce this old manuscripts point. Will it be book burnings next ? It seems to me that liberalism is leading to political correctness that in turn is leading to some sort of bondage for the human race. If we do away with freedom of speech we do away with freedom to believe what we want.

he only apologised to keep them happy, so that they wouldn't react violently. they're still mad though. shows the rationale of these people

prophets, government officials and islamic newspapers constantly demean christians, jews and westerners in general but nothing happens. first it was the danish cartoons. attacking the dansih embassy. what are these people? citizens of civilised countries don't do this. it isn't about "a few bad seeds"; there is an inherent problem with how islam operates

Yes,he should say sorry as personal apology because muslims never ask to apologise as a pope of christian moreover he should learn more to respect all religions to guide his followers. He knew that he cannot show the truth about Islam because he will lose all facilities. But The Holy Prophet Mohammed (peace be upon him) never accept any facility from public moreover in his life there was no day he ate lunch and dinner in the same day.
