A lot of "scriptures" survived because they were put in large "pots" and burried in the sand! But, a lot of them didnt, because people of that region would burn anything that was flamable, when they needed a fire, and often dug these up and burned them as fuel.
It was on the history channel.
Not all of them were in the Monestaries, some, the Jewish people held onto, such as the Torah, because it was "thier" history also. The Muslims have a different version of it, but, they also, wrote the history of the Old Testament, only in thier version. (I am now reading the Qu'ran an see a lot of the Old Testament in the second book of translation of the Qu'ran to English).
Even if they werent "copied", they would have been handed down verbally, through out the years.
I wish you well..

God would have made sure that the scriptures (his word) would survive in whatever means possible.
That's why attempts to eradicate them or to keep them from being translated were futile. God has made sure that everyone can read them and get to know him and his purposes for mankind and the earth.
The scriptures are our guidance, for our instruction

Of course not....that is what "scripture" means...something written down.
Initially all the "books" in the bible started as oral histories, stories that were passed around from village to village, generation to generation. At some point, people started writing them down.
Over the years of copying, recopying, editing, changing things to agree with historical events and current theological ideology, the bible as we know it to day gradually emerged. Along the way of course all kinds of transcription errors crept in.

If only they hadn't copied them, the world might be a better place than it is now.

We'd all be better off if they hadn't. There only a tool to control and oppress the masses.

Some of them maybe. What an odd question. Are you going to go back in time and destroy them or something?
