Depending on your breed and special needs (if any) a puppy food will do just fine. Puppy's do have a bitof a different nutrient requirement than grown dogs so make sure that you are feeding it PUPPY FOOD. You can also choose a puppy food for a specific sized puppy ( such as large breed puppy formula). Not all dog brands carry that however.

If the pup is UNDER 5 WEEKS OLD.....CRUSHED PUPPY CHOW MIXED WITH WARM WATER! (you can crush the food with a blender or I used plastic baggies with food in it and banged it with a rolling pin) Puppy Chow is CHEAP! @ Walmart it is $8-10 for 20LBS OF FOOD!! With a young pup nomater the age(under 8months) this will last ATLEAST 2-3WEEKS! Don't give the pup to much food!BUT ENOUGH! Once the pup is atleast 5 weeks start lessing the water and make it more CHUNKY PIECES as that will get the pup used to hard food! I do NOT reccomend "wet" food at this point it will mess with their system & make there shi** runny & squirty!! After 1 years of age switch to Dog Chow or whatever your preference is but when you do "switch" the food make sure you mix it at first(alittle of puppy chow) with it so the dog will get used to the new food(if you switch on them to fast it messes with their digest system) GOOD LUCK!! And keep up with ALL shot's!

Depends on the breed/mix and age. Newborns get food from their moms, puppies who are weaned get it from dog food either canned, dry or both. If they are a giant breed such as a Great Dane they need to be fed a good quality adult dog food with a protein level of 24% or less..if they are smaller breeds then puppy food is usually fine.
Regardless if it is adult or puppy it needs to be of good quality..with little or no corn, wheat, soy, beet pulp and by products in it.

If the puppy is 0 months to 2 months plus, feed with milk. a little warm, or room temperature, not hot (you can purchase milk powder for puppies from pet shops.) Once the teeth is out, you can start feeding them dry food.
