No, it's not normal. Dewormers only treat certain kinds of worms, not all. Take a sample to your vet. Gross, I know, but you don't want your doggie to get sicker!

It can be normal if the dog was loaded with worms. Take a stool sample back in to the vet and have a fecal done. The dog may need to be dewormed again at least once more and possibly a couple of more times.

It is possible. sometimes it can take 2-3 dewormings. Also if you are not cleaning up the feces in your yard, your dog can reinfest himself. I would take a fecal sample into your vet and tell the vet you are still seeing worms. They can check the fecal again and deworm or they can put your dog on a monthly heartworm preventative that also deworms. ask your vet what is best

Also if your dog is outside and eating squirrels or other small animals he will continue to get tape worms even after being dewormed. I had to deworm mine every 6 months because they like to eat the squirrels that got in the fence with them.

No, it isn't. If it is tapeworm he is getting it from fleas.I realized my kitty had tape worm when i adopted him from a shelter.

I would take him to the vet, get the deworming tablets and get a really good flea control medication.

Good luck!

Your dog probably has a tapeworm infestation. Most dewormers don't kill tapeworms, just roundworms. Talk to your vet about it and get a wormer that will take care of tapeworms.

Try a home remedy that my dad would use on his dogs, then ours, if they got worms.
Take a cigarette, he smoked Camels, non-filter, break it up, and mix it in with a can of dog food, then feed it to your dog.
Worked like a charm.
