how do you get rid of nutters on public transport, you know the ones that sit next to you talk jibberish and have a twitch in there face.

all you need to do is be polite. you don't need to make them feel you are afraid of them or uncomfortable.
they are people just like all of us, they just have issues. after all, we all do at some point in out lives.
its just that they probably have had Major ones or lots, there is only so much a person can cope with, were all different and we all have different limits.
there probably much more afraid than you are, there just trying real hard to get out there and be normal etc.

The most important thing is to be polite. But at the same time don't encourage them. Do you own an ipod or a device that goes inside your ear??? Even if its not hooked up or turned on... it gives you that choice to be in your own world without being rude. Does that make sense?
I just got home from Italy and they're plenty of Gypsies and street folks begging. But once I had my headset on they didn't bother me.
You can always give them that blank look like you don't speak the language????

Well, even though I'm not Christian or a follower of any of the standard patriarchies like Judaism or Islam, I will quote a wonderful homely. "There but for the grace of god, go I."

Have a little compassion, my friend. You don't know what event might drastically change the course of your personal life drama. You could end up like one of these poor people. If you do, wouldn't you appreciate a little compassion and understanding?

until yesterday I would have said just ignore them
Yesterday I went to the Memorial Service of a very special woman who made friends with everyone she came in contact with in life, even nutters who talk gibberish and twitch.
She would have gotten off of the bus knowing their name and whats going on in their lives and probably found a way to get them the help they needed.

Don't worry about it. If you start thinking"Oh no there comes yet another nutball who's gonna spoil my ride" then they come and sit next to you. If you just sit there and think about butterflies, the color of your hair or what you're gonna have for diner they wont start talking to you. I'm sure of that because for decades I've been the victim of just about everyone who wanted to tell me about their lives, extraterrestrials or the little men that lived in their heads. I used to get all tense as soon as I saw somebody coming near. Once I stopped doing that, people just somehow stopped sharing everything I didn't want to know about them. I don't have to be rude or change seats, they just stopped bothering me.

Get yourself a false hearing aid, some dark glass, a white stick and a labrador, then you can ignore whoever whenever and wherever you please. (not to mention always getting a seat on the bus or train!!!) Might even make a few quid if you sit with your palms upwards!!

Im so glad im not the only 1! I dont think we will ever get rid of them, they are drawn to us somehow. Perhaps its because we are basically good people & wont hurt their feelings by being rude.

move to a different location on the public transportation system. they have a right to be on the system just like you do. remember we who are tolerant must be tolerant of those who are not.
