Make eye contact with him and give him a friendly smile when you pass him in the hallways. I wouldn't approach him when he's around all of his guy friends as he will most likely just ignore you. Try and strike up a conversation when he's by himself and see where it takes you. If he doesn't give much of a response, he's probably not into you. If he starts getting into the conversation with you, he probably likes you as well. To start up a conversation you could compliment him on his shirt, or even ask what his next class is.

Just strike up a friendly conversation with him.
It doesn't have to lead into you telling him that you like him though.
Just ask him some questions about himself, see if you two have anything in common.
It could lead into you being friends with each other, which, you never know, could lead into being more then just friends.

Get to know him,mabey you could hang out with him sometimes.My cousin is in the seventh grade and she went out with a ninth grader,but he died 3 months ago.i'm in the sixth grade and he asked me out.I mean don't worry about it just be normal around him

Tell him you dont have to tell him in his face write him a letter, or just start talking to him be his friend first and then tell him. its good to b freinds with him first because you dont no how he is or how he act in person
