Cain killed Abel and the Bible doesn't mention Abel having a wife but God appointed another to bring the promised seed through, Seth. Cain took one of his sisters as a wife, Adam and Eve had many children, sons and daughters. Focus was put on Cain and Abel and Seth because Abel would have been through whom the promised seed would come but Cain killed him, so then God had Eve bear another son appointed to bring the promised seed,Jesus Christ, through. Genesis 4:25,26 Genesis 5:4 Connie H - there is no Biblical proof of that, so you are listening to the teachings of man, not God, that is spiritually dangerous. KC Superstar- If you an Atheist figured this out than God did clarify it enough now, didn't He.

I'm an atheist, and I understand that a straight forward, 100% literal reading of Genesis (the whole Bible for that matter) will produce some discrepancies. So now I'll shift ends of the spectrum, and play Christian apologist. Adam and Eve lived for over 800 years. To think that they had just 3 children (Cain, Abel, and Seth) is erroneous. They likely had other sons and daughters, and Cain and Abel married their sisters. This was before incest was condemned in Leviticus. Now, back to my atheist position. An almighty being should have clarified this in his "holy book". Either that, or it was written by people.

The wives were their sisters. Adam and Eve had many many children, girls and boys. The bible does not speak much about women because God wanted to outline the lineage of Jesus through the men in the bible. There were very important women in the bible. mary who gave birth to Jesus, and Ruth as well was anther important woman, just to name a couple.
When Noah and his wife took their family onto the ark, to start to repopulate the earth after the flood, the men married their sisters then too. Once the earth was repopulated according to God's satisfaction. He no longer allowed insest among the humans.

Please take the time and read the lost books on this site, they are very good and answered a lot of my questions. They are book supposedly left out of the Bible. They say each birth were twins, each having twins sisters.
