depends on the dewormer because some dewormers do not cover all types of intestinal parasites. It also depends where you bought it? The petstore or grocery store or vet clinic? The vet clinic stuff is guaranteed but forget about the other places to buy it. Your animal should be passing dead worms if it is working properly or at least in the process of dying.

It could be working, but it might not be. Dewormers kill the worms, so seeing an adult worm come out alive doesn't mean much. You need to follow up with your vet about the recheck of the stool, and make sure they are treating for the right worm. Over the counter dewormers really aren't that effective. What did it look like? Describe the worm to your vet or better yet, bring it in to them so they can make a definitive diagnosis. Most dewormers require 2-4 treatments over several weeks to months, depending on the parasite they are treating for.

Probably not. Get the worm in a plastic baggie and take it(along with your dog) to the vet. This will help determine what kind of dewormer to use.

Yes.. assuming that you gave the dog a dewormer.... Do not understand why, though they are alive.. a dewormer normally but not always kills the worms.. but at any rate.. to answer your question.. YES

Not necessarily, though it can take a second dose of the meds to work. Are the worms dead or alive? Contact the vet.

Depending on what kind of worms they are you may need a different kind of wormer. I had my puppy wormed on schedule just like I was supposed to and he ended up getting hookworms and they had to prescribe a special medicine just for those. Good Luck!

If you acctually SEE the worms in the pooh, then your dog might be overwhelmed with parasites. When I first got my dog,the same thing happened.Just bring her to the vet...The situation might be worse than you think.....I hope your pup feels better soon!
