No progress. The government still hasn't caught itself

The war against al-Qaeda is not being fought very efficiently. Since the U.S. has won some tactical battles in Afghanistan, or should I say, had won some battles back in 2001 and 2002. However, whatever progress was made has been wiped out by Bush's diversion of troops from Afghanistan to Iraq.

The Iraqi War, in which there was no direct connection between the Sept. 11 attacks and Sadaam Hussein, has now become a magnet for insurgents and terrorists. These insurgents are getting training on how to fight an urban-based war and going back home and teaching ever more recruits.

We've stopped for the most part the attacks on American soil, probably because al-Qaeda is biding its time. However, the attacks on American and Israeli soft targets continue overseas.

Our military solution, according to many military experts this week, has just about run its course. Now we need to switch to more subtle methods and probably change key portions of U.S. policy toward despotic Islamic nations and Israel if we truly hope to win this war against al-Qaeda forces.

I am glad to see that you didn't call it a war on terrorism, because even though bin Laden and his insurgents don't have a nation, they are a military and they have declared war on the U.S., in fact way back in 1996. The bombing in Kenya, on the U.S.S. Cole and other attacks were its start.

Since then, Muslims in other heavily populated Muslim nations (ie: Indonesia, the Philippines, and Chechnya) have attacked Western soft targets (population centers, hotels, schools, etc.) in their bid to be free of non-Muslim forces.

Al-Qaeda is winning the strategic war; we're winning the tactical war, because we're the world's strongest military power.

Probably not.
Governments on both sides feed propaganda about the so called war on terror.THe thing is this is not a war on a country it's on a terrorist group that spans all nations and probably has millions of supporters. I think were in it for a long time Even Bush said it would take years.

the war is not being won, a stalemate really, but al-qaeda is weakened to the point that they should not attack again.
