The symptoms will begin within 24 hours, as in most types of food poisoning. I have provided some information about E. Coli and other forms of food poisoning, their symptoms, etc. for you to read. I hope your daughter is okay!

Did she eat a spinach dip that was preprocessed and cooked in a container or was it home made from fresh spinach? The contaminated fresh stuff was a limited supply so the odds are against her really having a problem. But it is worth contacting the doctor to be sure.

Why did she eat spinach yesterday when every newspaper and TV newscast said not to for days?

The Raw Spinach in question was taken off the shelves last week due to E Coli breakout in Mid August
so the spinach dip symptoms for E Coli is a month too late

This isnt necessarily E Coli, this could just be a more simple food poisoning, the dip had gone bad, or she just had a bad reaction to it. Most spinach dips are made with steamed and processed spinach, not fresh. The cramps could just be due to her pregnancy. Who knows? I wouldnt freak out just yet, but chances are its not E Coli. Just wait to hear back from the doctor. Get well soon!

It could also be Listeria. Pregnant women shouldn't eat deli meats, SOFT CHEESES, and things from a salad bar because of this. It can cause severe illness and/or miscarriage in pregnant women. Sorry, sue her doc for not warning her.

well if it is processed dip, you buy pre made in a store, it is fine...it's only been recent quanitys of it....and if she is do soon..wakeing up with cramps and diarreah is totaly normal...and means labor is fast approaching..it's really hard to say without a full exam what is causing this.

Definetly. In fact, the stomach can have the food digested and in the blood stream rather quickly, so the effects can be seen within hours.
Smart move on her part to quickly contact the doctor.
