No I was not in a coma when 9/11 happened, nor was I in a coma when America dropped bombs on others

~Oh blimey

no, the bible doesn't offend me, 'hell', is an english version of 'heck' but thanks for giving me the benefit of the doubt here..
I'd really hoped to get some Muslim take on this as I'm sure there are those out there who want to see the way forward out of this mess also.

We're not going to get out of this mess, it's about caveman discovering a club and discovering he can beat the members of a rival tribe to death.

It's about the biggest, strongest and meanist, be they Ghingus Khan or Nero or Napoleon or Hitler.

This is something that's gone on throughout recorded history and has forced people like the Chinese to build walls that span for hundreds of miles to prevent big mean enemies from comingin.

In the old days we built a wall around every city.

There was once a wall around Paris

In the old days you carried a sword or gun to protect youself and it was the best and fastest shot who survived.

Man is the only animal that makes war, thus maybe that prove man really isn't an animal, as it would give a bad name to animals.

Man has been doing this since recorded history, if not before.

And get it right. It has nothing to do with hatred. It has to do with COVETING.

A girl walks down a back street at 2 am and men see her and they covet her and grab her and rape her and steal her money and jewelerh.

A wagon carrying food is going down a back road outside the city and man sees it and wants the food so he stops the wagon and takes the food, maybe killing the people driving and riding it.

Rapists do not do what they do for hate.
Bank robbers do not do what they do for hate
Theifs and burglers do not do what they do for hate
Army's hate only because they are ORDERED as part of the process of dehumanizing them to blindly kill for no reason (you want to put down "Charlie" and keep "Charlie" down because if "Charlie" gets up "Charlie" will put you down!)

IF HATE were a factor, armies would go in, levelt he place, kill everyone and then go home leaving that a grave yard.

But do they do this?

No they leave a lot of it intact. Enslave the local people. Stay and oversee the spoils of war, exporting it all back to their homeland.

Terrorist could be hate driven.

Terrorists, however, just like Soldiers are brainwashed into "putting Charlie Down"

And as an Atheist you better worry for Osama and MANY OTHER CLERICS are demanding World Islam and they DO NOT allow Atheists. They will hold a gun to your head and you will bow and pray to the great God Allah or you will die.

Go watch some videos on their web sites of how they chop heads off.

They aren't and I am not kidding.. You will not be able to be neutral for too much longer as this is going to get really bad in a few short years..
When Iran finishes messing around and gets a nuke, then what are you going to do as a neutral person?? If you live in the US, they have made it very clear that the US is the great satan and they want to destroy us.. They are trying even now to do harm, but haven't been able to, so far. Do you think that we will always find out about the plots??

You may not believe, but the Bible prophecys are coming true. Peace (right now) is in the process of being taken from the earth. We don't have peace now, but we also don't have nuclear war and that is what is coming. The muslims do not care if they die in this war they want to start. That is one BIG difference as you and I care and don't want to blow the whole world up but they do and are proving it..
They just shot some poor 70 year old nun that was helping them. Brave soldiers, killing old people.. These folks can not be reasoned with.. I don't see any resolution as there are too many of them.

Honestly, who cares if Muslims & the rest of the world ever get along. It's just NOT that simple. The hate comes from the Media & all the misinformation that is going out into the world regarding World events. Let's face it, the computer age hasn't really done third world countries much good. Most of them cannot read & when they do learn to read, what are they reading?.....lies on the internet! I blame the Christian Organizations for wanting to Westernise the world. The U.S. organizations should stay out of other countries religious affairs & maybe this wouldn't be such a mess! Our government & our people are being blamed for the acts of Christian Relief workers who want to "save the world" through Jesus, rather than save the people who are no different from Jesus! We Westerners tend to be more ignorant than the people who have existed for centuries being blissfully ignorant of what the new mellinium has to offer. We are a new country compared to others & we should ALL just leave each other alone to live in our land(s) as we see fit. The fundamentalists seem to be the main problem, but even if you stopped them from speaking out, the problem would still exist. The radicals come in all forms of life, not just muslim.

I don't believe there is an answer. As long as human beings exist, with or without religion, we will have differences and many will defend those differences to the death.

Look to even a small group or committee trying to work on a project of some kind. It is rare that things run smoothly because if the committee has 10 members, there will at least 10 ways people want things done. Then there are always the two or three people that are ADAMANT about the way things should be, and drown out the rest of us.

Now multiply that by billons of people. I hold out little hope we can live at peace because what may be shangra-la for one, is pure hell for another. It's just human nature.

"but there's got to be some sort of resolution"

I agree but I can assure you that a resolution will not come at the end of a gun or from a dropped bomb.

People living in places like Palestine or present day Iraq are suffering beyond words to describe. This fuels their rage at the west and further fuels the shame/guilt cycle which is the psychological foundation for radicalism. Consequently, if we want real fundamental change, fighting fire with fire will only produce an incendiary, world wide Holocaust.

It is obvious to me that we should be helping these societies; not exacting further harm. As an example of this, since Hammas became the democratically elected party in Palestine, aid by many western nations, including mine, Canada, has been cut off. Now I can understand governments like the Canadian government not wanting to engage in dialogue with what they perceive as "terrorists" but the flip side to this situation is that the children of Palestine are suffering from skyrocketing malnutrition. How can any sane individual believe that this is helping our situation let alone "winning" the minds and hearts of occupied Muslim nations? No. It isn't. Instead it is adding more fuel to an already disastrous fire.

We need a major rethink on this situation. We need to get past our theological differences and start looking at each other as fellow human beings. Education, food, health care, housing, access to decent employment - these basic human needs, the sources of basic human dignity fulfilled will be the ultimate force of change. Continue to hate based on theology, continue to kill and bomb and what appears to be a never ending cycle will continue to fester and grow.

The best answer is found in the Bible in Revelation. God has put it into men's minds, in False religion to destroy each other.
This being the end of times, man will kill fellow man. It will soon follow that Governments will get after false religion and eliminate them...........All.
I realize the Bible probably offends you, but it's in there, and has been for centuries. Just another prophesy coming true......

OH! By the by... You mentioned Hell! I thought Atheists didn't believe in Heaven or Hell? Slip of the finger?

Well, I don't really think that the world will get along. At least, not until Jesus comes back and reigns for the 1000 years of peace. I'm looking forward to that. I hope I'm still around when it comes to pass.
Until then people really need to open their dictionaries and look up the word: Prejudice
If it applies to them in ANY sort of way, they need to change themselves. Then maybe something will change for the world.

I believe that someday we will all agree on the power of Pizza to solve all the worlds problems.
In the future the last divisions in the world that causes war will be those that believe a pizza should be cut into 8 pieces and those that believe it should be cut into 10 pieces.
But this will be solved in the year 2065 by a housewife named Ann Cedar when Ann invents a machine to perfectly cut a pizza into 9 equal slices

I don't think that there is any intention to get along. Religions no matter the faith are intent in proving themselves right. If and when they can't do that, they turn to proving the other guy wrong and if that doesn't work then they try to destroy them. Today we are facing just a continuance of the Crusades, I think Bush said that himself.
Blessed Be to the individual who finds good in all mankind and does not take part in this genocide.

In reality fundamentalism is at the root of the problem. Until we can get rid of fundamentalism from all faiths, then there is no way that a duologue can be opened to allow the religions of the world to live together peacefully.
