can a jurisdiction change an order to a warrant just because you are in town??

Depending on jurisdiction, there may be a warrant. To check call the court where the unpaid tickets are from.

However, what will put you in jail even quicker, is being pulled over. If you are pulled over for anything at all they will run your name and see that you have a suspended driver's license. You will be charged with "Driving while License Suspended-Failure to Pay Fines/FTA".

You might also be charged with "Consequences of Non-Payment of Fines, Fees, Etc.". Anther charge too, might be "Contempt of Court".

Suggestion, start paying on those fines.

chances are there already is a warrant issued, the way they catch people is when they show up to dps to renew. I'd check with the city or county where you have the ticket and make it right. You CAN go to jail for unpaid tickets. It will catch up to you when you least expect it.
