I once crashed in a microlight. Ball of flames were nowhere to be seen.

In an airliner however, a nose-first or belly landing would possibly see a major fire if the fuel ignited Depends on the amount of fuel on board and whether structural damage enables the fuel to get to the engine or another source of ignition.

If the aircraft exploded in a ball of flames, there would be no survivors to answer your question.

No - but I was on a plane where one of the engines blew up on take-off. We continued the journey flying from Banjul at 20,000 feet and eventually had to land in Paris due to lack of fuel. A new plane was then flown across from Gatwick to pick us up and transport us back home. I've never been so terrified in my life!

nope but i've been on one that made an emergency stop just before taking of. The plane was allready gaining speed when the captain noticed a tire problem. It set us back by a few hours.
