I've been to both sides of Niagara Falls-American and Canadian side.
I've found that the American side does not have much to do or SEE for that matter. They have a few shops, restauraunts, and a big hot air balloon type of attraction that is attached to a string where they take you up and you can see over the falls.
The Canadian side of the falls is MUCH BETTER. The view of the falls is amazing and there are alot more restaurants and other attractions such as going under the falls, the butterfly pavillion, horse and buggy rides, museums, HUGE gaming arcades and much more.
I'm not sure where you're from but if you are from the US, it's definitely worth it going through customs. If you're from Canada, stay in your own country for this one =)
Bottome line---both sides are great tourist areas but the Canadian side of the falls has much more to offer.

The Canadian side is the only one worth seeing- the fallas are amazing, you can take aboat under them; other than that a bunck of very tacky tourist things that arents worth it. Its really seedy given what it could be.
