It has been this way for a few months now, and I haven't been doing anything differently with my neck (that I can think of). If anyone can tell me anything about this, i.e. how it develops or how it is fixed, I'd appreciate it!

It aches on and off, but I constantly have this almost-numb, sort of tingly sensation. It is right at the bottom of my neck/top of my back.

Nel, that makes sense since I have just recently gone from a non-computer job to a job where I spend almost the entire day in front of the screen... I never thought that would have anything to do with it before now.

Frank, I'll try what you said, as long as you promise that you're not trying to trick me into doing some sort of pole dance!

I get the same thing. I have found it occurs when I am sitting at the computer for too long, too many days in a row. I work from home on my computer, in addition to participating in things like Yahoo Answers, and several Yahoo Groups.

It helps if you get up and stretch every 20 min. while on the computer. Every few minutes make an effort to look down, left, and lift your arms into the air, and while holding your hands together, stretch left and right.

You can also adjust the height of your keyboard - if it is too high, your body is not in proper alignment. I usually work off a laptop on my desk, and that puts stress on my neck and shoulders and adds to the problem.

These are things that work for me - I haven't had the numbness and tingling since I started doing them. I hope they work for you too.

Well, since I've had my complete neck fused and it is full of titanium now, I think I might be of some help in this area. My neck is fused from C2 all the way to T1. C1-C2 does not have any discs at all. Now, it really depends on your age here and you don't indicate that. But, here are a few suggestions that might help. First of all any surgery should be absolutely and I do mean absolutely, the last possible of any solution. You probably have bulging disc and bulging disc are pretty common actually. But, they can be very painful when they "act up". Now, there are some wonderful excesses that can be done to help this and a physical therapist would be able to provide that info very easily. Stretching daily, pacing yourself.....don't sit or stand in one place for more than a reasonable amount of time. Turn your neck from side to side and up and down fairly regularly while trying to get it to relax. Relaxation is the answer to your whole problem, believe me. It will not only help your neck, but many other areas that you probably are not even aware of that may be causing you some difficulties. It can't hurt to try and if you can get into to see a good physical therapists, do so and they will give you the right types of exercises. Good luck.

Hold on to a pole or similar object with both hands, place your feet so they are in-line with shoulders, (same width and in line vertically). take a deep breath, ark your body, back curved bum out knees slightly bent. Breath out then breath normally. Hold that position for about 30 seconds. Try this a few times during the next few days. You should feel your back click if you relax enough in this position. This is the only thing that works for me. Also try some neck stretches side to side with chin tucked back and shoulders down then tilt your head to the right then to the left, holding each for about 20 seconds. Hopefully this will work for you.

I don't know what's up. I can suggest to you to use rubbing alcohol in the itchy areas and see if the itch goes away. Rubbing alcohol kills bacteria.

If that doesn't work then get it checked out by your doctor...your general doctor would probably send you to a dermatologist, but maybe not depending the outcome of his tests.

Sometimes all of a sudden people become alergic to something they've used all their life. Change shampoos and clothes washing soap, and bath soap to something very mild and see if that changes anything, and cut off the tags from inside your shirts, before you go off spending thousands to get this checked out.

It sounds like a herniated disc possibly. Try sleeping on your back or different from your usual position. If it continues, Id go to a doc and maybe have it x-rayed. It can get worse if left untreated.

Also try some ice...then heat...vice versa or one or the other.
