Okay, I'm a natural light auburn/strawberry blonde color, I currently have medium/dark blonde hair. I'm thinking of coloring it a dark auburn/burgundy. I'm hoping it will look good on my skin tone since I'm naturally a red head, but at the same time I'm afraid the upkeep will be a pain since my natural color is actually a little lighter than the dark red. Should I go for it?

i say go for it! you may need to darken your eyebows with some eyeshowed but i think the skin tone would be fine. any hair color with red in it always tends to fade pretty fast..so if its dark at first give it a week or 2 and it will calm down..goodluck

well you could use a wash out type first to make sure it looks good. If you're worried about showing at the roots.. you could try highlights/streaks. I streaked my hair blond when my natural colour is brown and believe me... if you moisturise properly your hair will not break or fall out. You should be careful though about how often you dye your hair. Moving from colour to colour so often is not really advised but that's for african hair like mine. I'm not sure if it's the same for caucasians.

I heard from my BF (best friend) 's sister, since she is a hairdresser that you shouldn't get highlights cuz when you get older your hair with the highlights will fall out!

Try one of the wash out brands to see if you'll like it first.
