I have brown hair that is shoulder length. I have had perms before and with short hair I feel like a poodle. I have never had a spiral perm, but want to try this. How good are they? How long do they last? Are they worth it? thanks in advance.

I would recommend letting your hair grow a little longer before getting a spiral. They work good and are very pretty, but look much better on longer hair. As far as getting body in your hair, try putting a root pumping spray in it after you wash it, and then blow drying it with a round brush pulling upwards to get lots of body. Good Luck

My daughter had a spiral perm once. Her hair is real thick but it looked great. Seems like it lasted about 3 months. She didn't have another one put in though when that one played out. She just hot rollers her hair.

Also, if you just want body without a perm. Rinse your hair in stale beer. Sounds strange but it does add body and don't worry about the smell, it goes away.

I suggest a body perm which is a less damaging than the traditional perm. Also, you need to maintain your hair by treating it to a combination of eggs, mayo and olive oil on a weekly basis. Also stay clear from products that have silicone in them. These in the long run, make your hair very dull.

My hair is the same way. Straight with no body and it's very thin, but gets weighed down somehow and it's only past my chin. What I do is I wash my hair with Tressemme clarifying, w/ vitamin C shampoo, no conditioner, and then I dry it upside down.

You could also wrap your hair in a towel and let it dry that way, but do it after it's just a little damp. Then after a couple hours take the towel off and you should have some volume. Blowdry upside down for a little and don't put any products in it. When I do either of those two, I can usually get volume and have it last for a couple hours. Otherwise...you could always get a body weave.

I have had spiral perms, and normally I love them, easy to care for, but the last one I got was done at JC Penney's Salon and they fried me and after about 2 weeks, had to have my hair cut short to get rid of all the dead stuff so be very careful in whom you choose to do it! But if you like your hair the way it is, just want more body, there are many products on the market for extra body and life.
