Yes, Lactaid is a popular brand name of an over the counter lactose intolerance medication. Lactose is comprised of two sugars, galactose and glucose. The body must split these two sugars apart in order to make them of any use. This is done with an enzyme called beta-galactasidase. If you are lacking in this enzyme you are lactose intolerant. Never fear though...you have plenty of bacteria in your intestines which LOVE to digest lactose. As they digest the lactose they create gas as a side-effect. This gas causes your cramping and other unpleasantness.
To sum up.....these lactose intolerance medications simply provide you with the enzyme needed to digest lactose. You can take them orally prior to eating the dairy, or if in liquid form, add it to the dairy itself. This may make it taste sweeter since glucose is sweeter than lactose. I hope this helped.

Yes. A major brand is Lactaid. Costco has its own brand that costs a little less for the exact same ingredients.

i dont know all the brands but i had a reaction to them....my lips swelled. WHat i found worked best for me was switching to all organic dairy products. IF YOU DONT KNOW WHAT ORGANIC IS LOOK IT UP! Really tired of people being ignorant and saying eww gross to organic... thats the thing about organic...its the one thats not gross...the one with all the chemicals is gross..
