The quickest way I would say is if they are asking you questions about money and what in your pockets such as what do you do for a living, how much do you make, do you own this property and that business etc then she may be high maintenance because she is trying to figure out if you can afford her. But appearance can also tell it, if she is wearing expensive clothing all the time, hair and makeup are flawless all the time, and she drives luxury cars then she may be gold digger status. Just talk to her and if money is always on her mind, you will start seeing the signs.

no easy way - but appearance is usually a give away - really well dressed and perfectly applied make up. Shoes a good give away too - high maintenance dont do grubby scuffed toes and heels.
Just be sure you dont mistake a lady that takes pride in her appearance for a high maintenance one though!
Really - you're gona at least have to talk to these women for a few hours before you know for sure though.
Why would you want to avoid em anyway - they're not that bad!

There are two parts of high maintenance. There are the ones with the fancy clothes and the fancy nails and there are the ones that are emotionally high maintenace whos self esteem is so low that they constantly need to be reassured.
So when you are looking at a women ask your self does she take care of herself. Pay her own bills. Just because a women has her nails done, does not meen you are going to have to foot the bill. Look for women who are confident at doing things on their own. Women who love to look good on your arm but can mingle by themselves at a party with out throwing themselves at every guy because their self confidense is based on how other people see them.
Start there and you will find a woman that can not only take care of herself but maybe you also.

High maintenance women look like they are high maintenance. If she is wearing a lot of expensive clothing, like Bebe, or jewels, she is most likely higgh maintenance. Also take into consideration how perfect the hair and nails are.If she looks too perfect its too good to be true and she will cost you big bucks

Take her out for a meal. If she asks for something that is not on the menu or badgers the waiter for a load of info about how everything is cooked you're in trouble. If that happens, when you get to the end of the meal try not paying. Say you've forgotten your wallet. If she throws a hissy fit just get up and walk out; you'll never regret it. If she just laughs it off and pays you'll probably be OK.

She's a woman. They're all high maintenance to some extent, but you either get right with that or date men.

Materialistic... Goes out of her way to make sure you know HER birthday is coming. Drops hints about items she likes.
Needy... Says "I Love You" in first week. Ready to move in after first month. Use your ears.
Well dressed women who wear make up are not necessarily high-maintenance... unless you're concerned about having to do her hair and makeup for her every morning... ;)

If you offer to buy her a cup of coffee and she says she wants a Latte, she is high maintenance.
