How did the car nearly hit you if it was in front of you? Not saying it didn't, but I would imagine this is something you would have to explain to the police in order to appeal successfully.

If you were trying to get AWAY from a car that nearly hit you, then you might at least have an argument to make. Since you were trying to OVERTAKE it, probably not.
A lot of times if you do appeal, either the cop doesn't show up at the hearing or the judge reduces the penalty, so you might at least give it a try, especially if the fine is large or if you're hurting on points. If it's a matter of feeling you were ticketed unjustly, probably best to just suck it up, pay the fine, and let it go.

Any ticket is worth fighting. What I would suggest is to approach this intelligently. By properly documenting every aspect of the incident including photographs, diagrams, existing conditions and anything else you can explain to the judge may help your case.
What will not help is ranting at how unfair the cop was at the time of the incident. That point in time is done. You must move forward and concentrate on where you can be effective. At best, your ticket will be rescinded and you'll walk away without a fine or points. At worst, the ticket will stand but at least you'll have your day in court. Somewhere in the middle, the judge might reduce the charges to something less severe.
In any case, keep your chin up and maintain your dignity....good luck!

Yes, I would take this to court. Two reasons. (1) everyone accelerates to pass another car, this is called Safety. You need to get around before you cause a real Accident. (2) If, the Judge does find you guilty, most times your fine will be cheaper than had you just paid the ticket.
Of, course there the American way of asking to speak with the Judge and Prosecutor in Chambers. Then say; "What it cost to drop this no questions asked" Then you just pay them a little into the pocket and it not be on your record. This how the rich people do it for themselves and children. Just need a little cash in hand.

You were chasing the car! How in God's name would you trying to avoid a potential accident? You were going to cause one. Sorry.....the guy that nearly hit you should have been reported to the police. When you took the law into your own hands you became the problem, not the cure..

you also could have slowed down to get rid of the other car, so no, I would say it's not a valid argument. You could still spend a whole day waiting in court. If the cop doesn't show up, they will throw it out. A gamble, though and waste of an entire day.

if the car had nearly hit your 2x then you should have just hung back and let them go on...what would you have done if you caught up with them...and being in-front of them would have been more dangerous than being far behind him....you will only being making a fool of yourself if you appeal... you did wrong, you drove dangerously and you were being foolish. Drive more safely, its not just your life at stake ...its everyone on the road TOO...ditch the road rage!

No, I would say to shut up and cut your losses. Were you chasing the car that tried to hit you? If you were, getting a speeding ticket is lucky compared to the other options.

No, it isn't worth appealing it. Pay the fine. The other car will get caught eventually, hopefully before he kills or injures someone else.
