Actually it is not a lot different from 1 child to 2. It is an easy transition. You usually have all you need with one and your house and you are childproofed. You are already tied down with one. Having one child is quite a change from none and having three is a big change from two. Small cars fit 4 people. Trips to places have specials for two adults & 1 or 2 children never 3. When you have three it is much harder. Once you have 3 you might as well have seven like me.

The transition from 1 to 2 is not half done with the knowledge you had from the first child but the other half is learning about sibling rivalry, working out ongoing battles, living aarangements, seating arrangements, and conspiracies (Dont tell mom.... and I will do...)
Its also 2x's the love and fun as someone else stated, but you also get more frustrations as you have 2 kids' troubles to help resolve, 2 kids heartaches
In the end its all worth it and you will cope fine :D

For me, going from 1 kid to two was HARD. I thought that going from 1 to 2 would be easier than 0 to 1 since I already knew the baby stage and all. Both of my kids are/were good babies and my second baby was actually easier but the combination of a toddler and a newborn is hard.
The age difference between kids has a lot to do with it too.

Ok. I was worried about this when I was pregnant with my second child as I wasn't sure how the child I already had would cope with the changes, and how I was going to cope having another baby to care for etc etc... Basically if your a good mother to one child then I bet you will be a great mum with two so don't stress too much. Its abit more full on and tiring at times but as we all do- you just have to do your best and ask for help if you need it. There are hard times and easy times but at the end of the day when they are all tucked up in bed asleep, you will look at them in adoration and its all worth it. I had my kids 16months apart and Im a single mum (since 2002) I dont have any problems, its all about having a positive state of mind.

i thought it was hard!! But it will work out ok.. the reason why i thought it was hard is bc my little girl was soo use to having my attention all to her self.. and she really struggled with "sharing" mommy.. but c ouple of weeks and she was fine.. as far as the transition with me went.. well i just had to learn to manage my time better.. ALOT better.
By the way.. my kids are 18 months apart!!!

I didn't think it was that big of a deal. My kids are 20 months apart, and since they were so close together, a lot of things were fresh in our minds. We were also a lot more laid back and not as uptight with our second, and that made things go very smoothly.

It depends on the ages sometimes the older child may get alittle jealous at first and you have to get used to tending to more then one child , if you have a routine now it will definatly change bottle feeding/breast feeding again . More diapers to change

it's not to big of a tansition. after all you're already a parent.it's a bigger adjustment for the 1st child just mske sure to give equal attention to both children. let older one help with things for baby.

It wasn't hard for me going from one to two. It was going from two to three. Very hard to keep up at first.
