I got a digi box yesterday, and am struggling to get it to work. I can get the thing to turn on, but when I try searching for channels it doesn't bring any up. Also on the screen the power bit is red and low. I can't see any option or anything as to what is making the power do that though.
The only thing I can half think might be the problem, is that I cant connect the scart lead to the tele from the digi box as the is only one scartlead socket in my tv. On the imagine in the instructions, it looks like it suggests a tv should have two scartlead sockets. I just want to get the stupid thing to start working, so I can watch some decent channels. Anyone got any helpful advice?

First question (and quite an obvious one, so sorry if you have already done it): Have you connected the aerial cable into the digibox? It doesn't just pick up signal without an aerial, just like a TV.

Next question: how does your freeview box tell you to connect to your TV? My parents' connect theirs using an RF (i.e. aerial) cable out the back of their digibox and into the TV. They then had to pick a channel on their TV (e.g. 7) which would be the digibox channel, and follow the instructions to set it up. My digibox is connected using a scart cable, which means the TV needs to be set to AV to watch freeview. I think both our boxes can use either aerial or scart connection to the TV.

You only need the one scart socket on your TV (unless you want to plug your DVD player into one and your digibox into another). So, if your digibox is plugged into the scart socket, and your TV is set to AV it should be working, unless................ you're in a digi-dead zone (i.e. there is no digital signal in your area). To check if you are, go to http://www.freeview.co.uk/

Hope one of my points sorts it for you.

First of all you didn't say if you had a sky digi-box or freeview. I will assume you are talking about a freeview box.

There should be 2 scart sockets on the digibox and one for the TV. If the scart going to the TV is from a DVD player or a video recorder you can connect it to the video scart of the digibox and connect the scart from the TV scart to the TV.

However, I don't think this is the problem.

I must ask you the obvious. Have you connected the TV aerial to the digibox? Assuming you have then you need to scan the channels as per the instructions. As there are many TV regions, channels are not in the same place everywhere so they need be scanned in.

Simple!

Put scart into box then other end of scart in tv. Put aerial in box. To watch digital press the dtv button or button that has square with arrow going through it. That goes straight to the digital channels (varies on different digi boxes). Check remote is functioning, it could be sending no/wrong signal to the box, change batteries or do remote reset (press down all buttons on remote without batts in) then put batts back in and try finding channels after. Are you using any other appliances? Check connections, Also scart lead could be faulty. Try a new scart lead.

Hope this helps!

Sounds like you need to disconnect the current scart and run the box into the tv direct.
what does the current scart connect to (DVD? or Video) if its video has that got 2 scart positions praps you could watch tv via that channel untill you get a 2 way adaptor in scart with 1 output

The arial cable that used to go into your tv should go into the digi box. the scart lead from the digibox should go into the tv.

Good evening my friend. If you are able to see the bar from the digital box, and it is red,, and low, then you have poor digital signal. The most obvious solution is to get your aerial checked by a qualified CAI registered aerial fitter. The bar you mention goes in stages, from red and "low" as you have, up to yellow and "medium" and finally green and "high" and is a basic measurement of your signal.
You may find that your system just needs updating in relation to connections or amplifiers but I rather feel that you may need a new aerial.
Best of luck

you would possibly want to discover out the capacity of the digital signal on your section. try this by employing going to the Freeview internet website and enter your postcode. If the signal is adequate an indoor aerial will fairly pickup the Freeview signal. If not an aerial might want to be offered from Argos for as low as ten kilos that could want to %. up the signal. The aerial does not might want to be outfitted outdoors. I placed mine contained in the loft on a go-beam and in basic terms pointed it contained in the right direction. buying an excellent-dooper aerial is a load of tosh placed about to make you spend extra funds than you fairly ought to. if you're too some distance faraway from the transmitter no aerial is going to do you any sturdy.
