Look, as long as your heart rate is staying between 70-80% of your max heart rate, it does not matter what you do, run, jog, row, treadmill, ski, elliptical, whatever. Cardio is cardio and your body does not know the difference. Just pick something you like and do it 20-40 minutes 4-5 days a week if you are looking to lose weight. Losing weight is also 70% diet. You can't rely on exercise alone. DO not starve yourself and try 5-6 small meals a day with plenty of protein and limit carbs/fats. You will feel fuller this way and can avoid crashing. As long as you are burning more than you are putting in, you WILL lose weight. DO not starve yourself either, your metabolism will shut down. But back to the cardio, subtract your age from 220. Now, whatever 70-80% of that number is, that is where you want to keep your heart rate for the duration of the workout. So, if you are 30 yrs old, your max would be 190, So you want to keep your hr around 160-170 beats per min. Happy exercising!

Rowing a boat would be more fun than running on a Treadmill, and when you enjoy something you are more likely to continue with it, therefore resulting in more fat loss!

The best way to lose fat is to increase your cardio workouts, either rowing or running will be sufficient. A good thing would be to maybe spend 30 minutes on a rowing machine and then 30 minutes running. It breaks up the monotony of the workout and give a good workout to different muscles groups of the body.

Find an alternative stress-reliever. When you’ve had an unsatisfactory day, don’t reach for the doughnuts – find a new coping mechanism that works in your case, not against you. Listening for a favourite album, looking at family members pics on Facebook, or just getting out your front door for a walk will provide help to focus on the positives.

They burn about the same amount of calories, in general, about 7 per minute. But, that depends on your weight and your heart rate. The key is to keep in the aerobic range during the workout. So, do what you like best and monitor your heart rate. I use a polar heart rate monitor while I excercise and it tracks my calories burned based on my age, weight, etc, and I can monitor my progress.
I have lost 80 lbs, so it works!
