This is a question for a vet. If the dog has been seen by a vet and prescribed penicillin, then by all means give it, but watch for side effects. If a vet has not prescribed it, don't give a dog any type of prescription meds.

Generally speaking, penicillin is safe for dogs. Your vet needs to prescribe the correct dosage though. Like some humans, some dogs are allergic to penicillin. It is rare for the reaction to be life threatening, but it can happen. Please never self diagnose and/or self treat your animal.

If a vet tells you penicillin is okay for your particular dog, or perscribes it for your dog, then you may go ahead and administer the medication accordingly. The vet knows what he's talking about.
