After the bath, have a couple of very absorbent towls handy. Wrap the dog with the first towel and begin to rub dry. The towel will get wet quickly so replace wet towel with the dry one and continue to rub dry. Whatever you do, the dog will still shake once you release the dog. A blow dryer will dry out the dogs skin and cause the dog to itch. If you feel you have to use a blow dryer, use it on cool setting. Please don't wash your dog too often...even the mildest shampoos can irritate the dogs skin. A dog's skin can be just as sensitive as a humans.

Most dogs get used to being dried with a blow dryer really quickly. They get cold when they're wet and they soon realize that this warm air on them feels good. Just get them used to the sound of the blow dryer first by turning it on near them, then point it at them from a distance to let them see it's ok. If you brush them while drying, their coats will look gorgeous when you're done. Make sure the temp. doesn't get too hot - just warm.

Dry first with a towel, getting your dog as dry as you can. Then if the dog will let you, use a hair dryer (low heat only). If your dog does not agree with these methods, put a blanket down where he/she normally lays, if the dog will let you dry him/her on the blanket do it. If not keep the dog on the blanket until it is not dripping, let it dry on its own. DO NOT LET THE DOG OUTSIDE UNTIL IT IS COMPLETELY DRY. If your dog likes to roll around and play on the floor do this with him/her include a towel in the play time.

I have 2 dogs and when I bath them we just wrap them in a towel for about 10 minutes (we have to hold them of course) then I just use a clean hand towel to give them a gentle scrub... then just air dry them. Holding them in the towel for several minutes gives them time to warm back up while you soak up some of the water. Reinforces your bond with the dog too. Also, its a good time (if they will let you) to inspect there ears and give them a gentle massage of the inner ear with the corner of a clean towel.

I have a sheltie, and it seems that when we towel dry her, she does not dry either. If you get impatient with that idea, then you could always try the blow dryer, but make sure to put it on a low setting, you would not want to burn your dogs. Othwerise I put mine outside where she runs around the house and dries herself, lol. Good luck

A blow dryer. Start it on low speed than work it up to high if your dog is not fearful of it.
