The first person who answered you is wrong!!!! You do have to wait 30 min. before eating because it gets absorbed better on an empty stomach. A lot of meds work better that way for where they need to go. I took that drug for 6 years and now take Evista and you don't have to do anything unusual before or after taking it.

you dont need to wait 30 minutes before eating if you read the pkg right it will tell you to sit up for at least 30 minutes after taking fosamax so you wont get heartburn and irritation backing up into the cheast from taking this med

Yes, you have to take it on an empty stomach for it to be properly absorbed. Take it alone not with other meds & stay upright for 30 minutes after taking it. All this info comes in the package insert which you can get from your pharmacist. Talk to them. They will be glad to explain it to you.
People over 65 are the ones who need it most. It's very safe.

The medication is absorbed better when taken prior to meals. People over 65 years old should not take this medication because it causes terrible stomach upset and GERDS.

This is so you don't get stomach or esophagus irritation. Also: take it 30 Min's.before you eat or drink or take other meds. Drink 6 to 8 oz. of water and DO NOT take it with vitamins, calcium or antacids.

so your body has time to absorb the tablet and so you don't pass it before its absorbed
i know this for the weekly tablet
